Yep I have tried it and boot a rom 0 machine swapping the rom with a rom 01. This however doesn't help me as I was to get all of these units in a working state.

It's a messy translation, but here is an article about adapting a generic EPROM to the IIgs socket:

Thanks Eudimorphodon, I'm definitely going to look into the feasibility of doing that.

IT actually reads a lot better than some I've seen Probably the best way to go, unless you want to go hunting for a raft of second hand ROM1 chips..

I honestly doubt Id find any and Im trying to restore these units on the cheap.. So buying faulty/questionable boards for the slim chance the ROM is ok is not a smart investment.

I think the Reactive Micro ROM1 upgrade is probably the best all-around for a straight ROM00 to ROM01 upgrade: https://www.reactivemicro.com/produc...-rom1-adapter/

However, if you like to tinker, the Apple IIGS XROM from Apple 2 Heaven will let you select two Apple prototype ROMs, ROM00 or ROM01: http://www.a2heaven.com/webshop/inde...product_id=137 Unfortunately, they're out of stock right now.

ReActiveMicro sells a ROM 0 to ROM 1 upgrade. I have one in one of our bench IIGS systems and it works just fine.
