Question Synertek 6504 for CBM 4040 floppy drive?

    Is a Synertek 6504 (7752D) a usable replacement for a MOS MPS 6504 (0580) in a CBM 4040?

The Synertek 6504 doesn't have an alpha designation, so it should be 1mhz

How did it go? I have some ieee drives that I need to repair, but finding the source of the problem in these dual-cpu drives is not an easy task.
