    Default Tandy + PC compatibility

    Hi All,

How far does the Tandy compatibility goes with early PCs (386/486) as far as floppy drives go.
Wikipedia for Tandy 1000 says that "All Tandy 1000 computers featured ... an IBM-standard floppy-disk controller supporting two drives"

Does that mean that a 5.25" 1.2MB drive can work in either a 486 or Tandy 1000, which was designed to take a 1.2MB 5.25" floppy drive?

The majority of 1000s wont support 1.2MB as they are high density.

Tandy followed the original Shugart floppy controller standard, not IBM's modification of it (which later became the generic PC clone standard). For example, rather than using a twist in the cable and setting both drives to DS1, the cable is straight through and the A: drive is set to DS0.
