Hey all,

I'm restoring and max-upgrading a Compaq Deskpro 386s. (General history of it I've posted in vogons here https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=70025 if interested).

One thing I noticed was wire 1 on the FDD ribbon cable was cut. I assumed that was physical damage that led to the cable not working, however searching for the cable yielded this page:
https://www.blackmoreit.com/peripher...ive-cable.html

Showing again, wire 1 going to the A drive is cut.

My question is for anyone who remembers these machines well, is why? It should just be a GND line. Trying to work out why the cable I made, using the old connectors that all beep out correctly, doesn't work properly.
