Thread: Apple IIGS Joystick Stalls Startup

Default Apple IIGS Joystick Stalls Startup

When I plug in an Apple II joystick to the back of my GS, it keeps getting stuck in the control panel. I tried messing with the "Slots" settings but I can't get past the control panel. Only way I can get it to boot (I use the floppy EMU) is if I disconnect the joystick--but there's so many games I want to use with it.

Does anyone know what could be going wrong? Is there a way to tell the computer that I just plugged in a joystick?

Maybe one of the push buttons of the joystick is stuck in pressed position, or there is a short somewhere effectively signalling a pressed button? Try the joystick with another Apple2 computer or measure its button signals.

I think so, Try the joystick with another Apple2 computer or measure its button signals.
