    It could be core memory, but hard to really tell what it is without seeing the boards in the middle of the stack. It'd be interesting to see if that HP part number could be referenced from some HP literature.

    Looks similar to a core stack from a 2116B as seen in the upper right of this image from http://www.hpmuseum.net/

    If those stacks are anything like the stack I have in an Ampex memory module, they are stacked and soldered together and impossible to open.
    = Excellent space heater
