Thread: Forum is crashin on Windows98

  1. Default Forum is crashin on Windows98

I have tried to use the forum on Windows 98 with the last Firefox available for Windows 98. It loads nice within a few seconds, but after an additional second, firefox crashes. The bug happens all the time. Probably its due to a javascript file thats embedded into the forum.

It could be the social media scripts (google and facebook are used on this forum) that are loaded in the background, which is a common issue on older browsers.

You can try to block the connection to the social media sites in the Windows HOSTS file in %windir%

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hosts_(file)

Just redirect the sites to 127.0.0.1

    An example would be

    127.0.0.1 connect.facebook.net
    127.0.0.1 google-analytics.com

Another alternative is to try the mobile site:

You can switch via the style dropdown on the bottom left of the page.

The FF 2.x branch was the last to support Windows 98SE. You can get 12 or 15 working by using KernelEX, but it is slow and unstable.
