    Post Future Domain BIOS Collections

    Hi All,

I've starting dumping the firmwares/BIOSes from my vintage hardware. This post will be all things Future Domain, the precursor to Adaptec.

These are for cards like the following:
    • TMC-1660
    • TMC-1670
    • TMC-1680

    Release: 1993
    Notes: Normal SCSI ID order
    File: FD_18XX_V3.2.zip

    Version: 3.4
    Release: 1994
Notes: Reverse SCSI ID order, support large disk
    File: FD_18XX_V3.4.zip

Hello Brian. Welcome to these forums.

I will add the BIN files to the web page at [here].

The BIN files are 64K sized, and within each file, I see the code (starts [55][AA][EC]) repeated multiple times. What is the type of EPROM fitted ?

( At the aforementioned web page, other contributors of BIN files for Future Domain SCSI cards, supplied 8KB sized BIN files, due to the EPROM in their card being a 2764. )

Not sure exactly what you meant by Future Domain being a "precursor" to Adaptec.

They were competitors with their own SCSI controller product lines in the 1980s, until Adaptec acquired Future Domain around 1995.

Looking around for some history of Future Domain I just found this nice bit of telling the history:

The Future Domain Story, By Jack A. Allweiss (who was the Future Domain CEO)

Yeah, I noticed the repeated code in the dump as well. My reader didn't recognize the part ID. I can try dumping again...

Not sure how to edit posts here...

I dumped my ROMs again, this time using a device type of 2764.

Thanks Brian. I have added the BIN files to the web page at [here].

    Regarding FD_TMC-885_V6.0A_2764.zip
In the code is "SCSI Disk Drive ROM BIOS V6.01": V6.01 not V6.0A.
Is your 'V6.0A' because that is what is on the ROM sticker?
