    Default Fs: Amstrad ppc 640

FS: Amstrad PPC 640. $200 shipped USPS in CONUS. I accept discreet PP friends & family, USPS MO, and cashier's check. PM or Email.

The manual says it's a 1988 or thereabout. It comes with the AC power source, the car lighter adapter, the two battery tubes, the mouse, the manual, 3 discs, and the carry bag. Two pics attached. If you'd like more, let me know.

I've had it since 1992. A co-worker in the Army sold it to me to use in our unit as the operations sergeant. We had no computers and two electric typewriters. It was a life-saver at the time to be able to save and edit multiple documents. That sounds so archaic now but that's how it was.

I have had it in a bedroom closet since 1994 and forgot I had it til I found it this week. I plugged it in and it comes on and you can hear the drive boot up and the lights come on but nothing on the screen. The contrast knob works and you can see it change on the screen but nothing appears on the screen. The volume works as well. Everything worked the last time I used it around 1994.

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or the screen does not work now. If you have any knowledge on how to get the screen to come on, let me know and I will try it. Thanks!

That's one of the coolest looking computers. Is the mouse branded Amstrad?

It's made by Genius Mouse, Model GM-6. It came with the computer. Do you know anything about the LCD monitor's?

I'm selling the laptop in the Marketplace by the way.

The LCD monitors did not have backlight in them in the Amstrad PPCs. Are you able to see a flashing cursor or text on the display when a light is above the screen? I hear there is a way to get a modern LCD display installed, but it's complicated, but it looks so good with it.

Only thing I can see is when I turn the contrast wheel it changes color. But no cursor and no text.

Found jumper settings for the PPC640: https://www.seasip.info/AmstradXT/ppc640dip.html

I'm interested in the unit as well, and how much would shipping be to 48313?

I found out I was close to the seller, only 30 minutes or so away, he was a super nice guy.

I was able to meet up with him and pick this unit up. Got it booting now after fiddling with the DIP switches, was set to CGA but not valid CGA mode (neither 40 or 80 column selected.) The A drive works, B drive does not and the KB needs a good cleaning. All in all a good pick up from a nice person.

Let me know if you figure out how to open it for a good V20'ing and a Gotek.
