Eh, no worries. I'm trashed enough myself after several days of not enough sleep I'm having trouble rotating the IDE pinout in my head to figure out what that 5v line would have shorted to if the cable went in backwards, because that's almost certainly the source of the smoke.

Well with just the xt-ide card in the pc with no CF adapter. PC doesn't Post. Also the xt-ide pins and collar show signs of burning. I'll have to test the the 5150 slot nearest the power supply to see if that's been damaged.

I've tested the CF card in my PS/1 and it works.. There should have been two partitions on it with data, however the second partition was not accessible until I reformatted it.. I'll test the ide to CF adapter next. Have to move the monitor to open the case. Had forgotten how heavy CRTs were.

The setup was a lo-tech xt-ide Rev 2 plus an IDE to CF adapter.

Sysinfo shows 2 serial ports. i presume 1 is the ast sixpak plus com and the mouse systems card is the other. so slot looks undamaged

The cf to ide adapter works in the PS/1 so it looks like the xt-ide is damaged

I'm saving up to buy the beatles singles box set or glitches rev4a xt-ide board.
