Just stumbled across this thread. Sounds like you have a good solution in place for you Sol-20. Running PT 5K BASIC like you've done is certainly the easiest solution when a Sol-20 is the target machine. If you ever want to do something similar on your Altair, here's a link to Altair 8K BASIC in EPROM using the "mover" concept as well.
