I laughed at the suprise over the 200khz two phase non overlapping clock. Those of use who cut our teeth on 8008's and 8080's are not suprised at all, especially the negitive voltages. Not to mention the 4004...

Modern cpu's hide all the fun with everything being internal.

Having lived history was fun...
 
Recall that the TMS9900 required a four-phase non-overlapping clock (usually generated by the TMS9904).

And there was a manufacturer, called "Four Phase Systems" for obvious reasons.

Here's a calculator using a 60KHz four-phase clock

I some how doubt the claim that it was 10 times faster and used less power. 4 phase did allow designing with latch only design but often wasted cycles to match data with clocks. It typically used overlapping clocks though, reducing the problems with data timing.
