Recently I started collect XT stuff with purchase IBM 5155 - portable unit with integrated amber monitor.
Later deeping on the web I found a cool addon - 5161 unit.
Fortunately I had a good chance to grab it but (as common) without extender card. It is a quite rare piece so had a luck.
IBM 5155 is a bit poor in upgrades due to limited space inside the case so 5161 unit would be a great for that.
Initially wanted to build a recreated IBM extender card (where gerbers are published) but found nice 3rd party solution.
Finally got two sets of these clone extenders so should cover my needs. Extender
A few tests with connected IBM 5160: 5161
Current config is ST412 (10MB) and WD25(20MB) = 30MB total. Prince of Persia with Orchid Tiny Turbo 286 is now well playable.
My plans are:
1) Upgrade 5155 with Orchid Tiny Turbo 286 and extender card
2) Build 5160 with Orchid card or another accelerator. As I have 5161 as storage = then base unit will be with 2x Tandons 360k.
3) 5161 with 2x WD25 as storage (so looking for the second WD25) and fill another slots with nice cards
