Hello all,
I might as well get this started.
I began collecting Vintage computers in ernest about two years ago. I was randomly browsing eBay, of all places, and happened across an Atari 800 for sale. Seeing that machine available inexpensively (in a relative sense) reminded me of how hard I had worked back in the early 1980s so that I could afford that machine new.
I already had several older machines taking up closet/garage space including a DEC Pro 350 and a TI-99/4a, both donated by a friend.
I ended up buying that Atari (I'm sure I paid too much - nearly $40 if I recall) and began adding to my collection from there.
Since then I've acquired all of the machines pictured at www.vintage-computer.com and many more. I've fallen way behind in photographing and researching machines and updating my site. I'm not even sure I want to catch up!
My collection started being about machines that I'd once used or coveted (Apple ][, Atari 800, IBM PC, Altair 8800, etc.) and now it's much more.
I do, however, have some focus in that I prefer machines from pre-1984 and generally tend towards 8080/Z-80, 6502 or early PC type machines.
Of course, I rarely pass up a good deal or a needy orphan of interest.
Erik
