I already know, I just wanted to see if anyone else knows :)

This is an accessory fan I received today for a computer I'm getting very soon:

These aren't super common, so I snapped it up when I saw it. And the machine it goes on can definitely benefit from it.

This is also a machine I have wanted for a very long time (ever since I've been into vintage computers).

So, what is it for? :)

As you quite rightly pointed out every computer can benefit from more ventilation.

For my SOL-20 I arranged an additional fan to blow air between the S-100 pcb's. There were a pair of screws already on the connectors on the mobo, so I just added hex spacers on top of them to mount the fan with some thumb nuts. See photo. This sort of thing extends the life of many components because excessive heat is the enemy. The trick is with any non standard modification is to make it 100% reversible, no drilling holes etc.

Thanks for the replies!

It’s not for a IIe or a compact Mac.

It goes to an 8-bit machine with a tiny screen.

Anyone?

This accessory was called the “OSCOOL”. I think it would actually fit an Osborne Executive as well, which would give you double fans! :)
