Dumb Question: Do unused new OEM Dell SSD's work in non Dell computers?

I've never used OEM SSD's in my life, (I know, I'm behind on the times) Do Dell SSD's work with no issues in any desktop/laptop computer that is not a Dell? Or does their firmware only allow use in Dell systems? I plan to use one only with Linux. Maybe Windows 7 for testing out stuff.

Thanks

Dell doesn't make SSDs, someone makes it for them. Unless it has a proprietary connector, it should work fine in other machines.

The company that made the SSD is probably listed somewhere on the label, or in the hardware ID when you look at it in the device manager.

If they are from a disk array of some sort, like a DellEMC device, it's possible they might have some funny block size like 520K instead of the normal 512K or 4096K. Sometimes you can change them if that's the case though.
