Identity thieves posing as legitimate businesses were able to access profiles that include Social Security numbers , credit histories, criminal records and other sensitive material, ChoicePoint spokesman Chuck Jones said.

OMG In my book having someones SSN without premission should be illegal anyway.

In California, the only state that requires companies to disclose security breaches, ChoicePoint sent warning letters to 30,000 to 35,000 consumers advising them to check their credit reports.

WTG California, But i heard that it takes around 10-16,000 and 140hours to repair
The damage done by ID theft. And even if you explain the problem most still
want you to pay the debt someone may have caused, Also it won't repair your
credit as you are flaged a risk. I wonder if the company will help people fix
there problems that will arise. The information will be used no doubt about that.
No one goes thru all that work just for fun.

Just my 2 cents, Whats your thoughts?
