in the news BTK killer was caught but they did it by matching part
of his daughters DNA to a sample they had has evidence. They knew she
was not the killer but suspected someone in her family was. They watched her
and thats why they arrested the suspect.
But they will not release how they got her sample.

What are they doing compiling a massive database of DNA to cross check?
This will be a very intresting case.

I can think of a thousand sinister things but lets here your thoughts?

I read that the daughter suspected her dad and submitted her own sample along with some other evidence.

I don't think there's anything sinister in this particular case, although there is certainly potential in DNA testing on the whole.

The feds want to expand the scope of thier DNA collections so that anyone who is arrested, for anything, even a traffic ticket, will be required to submit a sample for the database, regardless of whether they are actually convicted or not.

I am surprised they just don't go down the whole road and get everyone's DNA sample, right after they are born, and make it out to be a routine procedure.

They could justify it for so many reasons its not funny

They probably will, in the not-so-distant future...

i have to agree with all of you.

ya i heard of that database they wanted to setup when people are arrested.
they dont even wait to see if you are guilty of what you did it's like taking
your fingerprints. I think your DNA should be protected and no one should
have a right to collect it without your premission. Your DNA is one of a kind
so we would sort of have like a copyright on it or something.
Of course the government can break copyrights when they want so it would'nt help.

the first reports was that the daughter turned her dad in but the latest
report i heard/read was that the cops caught him because of his daughters
dna sample but they wont say where they got it and she did'nt submit one.

i dont know all the facts, i doubt any of us does but im going to keep an
eye on this case.

ya i have thought that they would some day take your dna at birth
anyone ever see that movie Gattica? in could happen.

The one good thing about humans in general is when ever living conditions
are so bad we dont mind fighting and dying to make them better.
"Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it" thats very true,
There is a cycle where governments or people in power take freedoms from
people. The people always fight back and correct them.
