Has anyone ever got one of those verifone thermal receipt printers to work with a serial port? I have a friend that got one at an auction but he didn't really do much with it. Other projects, I guess. It would be neat to have something like that, doesn't anyone think? If I wanted to hook up a 386 as a cash register I wouldn't want a full page printer, know what I mean? Anyone ever done this?

I've done something similar but it was with a regular thermal printer for my Sharp PC 1360...a friend of mine hard wired it to a serial port and I would print out receipts (for a beauty salon) throught the com port.. I'm not the electronic expert however, I was the software developer. But I didn't nothing any special apparatus. wires for each connector pins basically.
