I have some something up my sleeve. I am trying to arrange a local gathering of the SX-64 users to celebrate the introduction of the SX-64 back in the days, that is January 1983. So thirty years later it could be the best opportunity to arrange a nice remembrance.

Please visit my blog for the details: Januari 2013 – Commodore SX-64 month ‘Who’s keeping up with the Commodore’

So if you like to join please let me know... the best thing is not necessary to travel that far as you can arrange a get together in your own public coffee brewer and take some snappies or a flick and post it online so we can enjoy your presence! Also the date isn't fixed to find a nice date somewhere in January and you'll be sure for a good time.

It loaded for me but a bit slow. He's somewhere where you spell January with an i :) Is it a specific day or just during the month? We have an Amiga group here in Austin, TX and I could obviously bring the sx-64 to that meeting. I think another member was curious about me bringing some of that stuff for the kids (well, I say kids, they're grown up now) of the members to play with anyway at some point.

It's a neat idea and I'd do it if I knew anyone within a hundred miles who has an SX-64. I really don't want to be the only person in the coffee shop with an SX-64. :p I'm sure I'd get plenty of people asking what it was!

I'd love to see pics if he pulls it off.

Ideally SX-64 owners should collaborate to recreate all the promotional pictures, like the Dallas-like guy next to the pool, the construction worker carrying around a SX-64, his wife and kids playing on the same computer at home and surely a dozen more I can't recall.

@patscc: I am located in the Netherlands and my blog loads a little slow from time to time...

@barythrin: You're right. I have re-spelled January ;-) (we dutchies spell it with an 'i' on the end). Also we are celebrating on the 20th. Actually the FCUG, who is teaming up from California/USA, is also going to celebrate on the 20th. So i would really appreciate it if you can also get some SX-64 together for some good old retro-computing somewhere during January. Can i add some people to the list? (Actually i have been in Austin before... nice place to visit)

@SkydivingGirl: We already have a group of ten (10) people, most of them bringing a SX64, for the Amsterdam party. Also in Fresno/Callifornia people will join us, so it seems to be working for now. Ofcourse we will document, snap some pictures and maybe record some footage durig this event. We might even invite some old-skool media (newspaper/magazine) too. ;-)

@carlsson: Actually that is a very nice idea. I will try to gather the different promotional pictures/videos. Do you have any suggestions (URLs)?

@brain: Just splash into the pool while you co-retroist is have a sip of the cocktail while using the SX64. That will work out

So in the end, are you also going to join and arrange a little get together?

Sounds cool. I don't want to be presumptuous and say I'm the only guy with a SX-64 in Central Wisconsin, but let's assume I am, so could some activities be geared towards the the lost souls out there ? (Like me ? )

Some SX-64 advertisements that I'm aware of, there might be many more:

Yes, that's our club! :) We can round up 3 or 4 SX-64's.

Heh, well, I don't know if we can get the Fresno Bee newspaper to cover our event, but maybe I can get my brother-in-law (who is a semi-professional photographer) to take some photos of us with the SXes. As for video, hmm... let me think about that for awhile. Must think of a clever hook... :)

The people at my office complain about having to carry a 5 Lb laptop around with them. The next time they complain, I'll set my SX-64 on their desk and tell them it's their new laptop. :D

I hope this goes off well! Be sure to get pictures of reactions from people in the coffee shop.

I brought it up with one of our Central Texas Amiga Computing Society folks and he liked the idea. Our meetings are now the 3rd Tuesday of the month (a vote made starting this year I believe) so our little event will be January 22nd in Austin, TX at Conan's Pizza on Burnet Rd. If anyone is interested there's no need to RSVP or anything. There's no membership fee either lol just Amiga enthusiasts who get together once a month and talk about the latest happenings if any or our latest happenings and pizza. There are probably one or two members who may still have the old stuff around (myself and Bo would be the immediate suspects). He's been swamped with work and other life though so it'll likely just be the usual crew at the meeting, no celebrity sightings ;-) but I'll bring mine along with a game or two and a video/sound demo disk that I found amusing so it can show off a little bit of it's music ability.

We'll at least have some pictures on the site afterwards.
