Hello I bought an Osborne 1 german 220V 1.43 version with a faultly german keyboard

I found a working american keyboard with a different layout.

the osborne doesn't recognize the arrow keys :

up
^K

right
^L

left
enter

down
nothing

You can see on the following pictures of the 2 keyboard, the arrow keys are not in the same place.

What I can do for the american keyboard functioning as it should ?

I think the only solution would be to burn a new ROM with an image from an American unit. If you aren’t equipped to do so, I’m sure someone on this forum could help you out.

OK I need help, what would I need ?

First we'll need to see what is used inside to decode each keyboard. Also, do you expect to move the physical keys or live with the different locations.
Pictures of the insides are needed. Do you know the German codes needed?
How about umlaut and accent?

I don't want modify the american keyboard. I want to modify the rom(s) of the german osborne 1 to american.

What are the eprom(s) to change and burn image(s) ?

We need pictures of the insides of both keyboards. You are assuming it has EPROMs. This isn't always the case. PICTURES!
