With only 8KW you'll be a bit tight for running a number of OSes / tests. For example, you'll need to run XXDP+ rather than the later versions. Even then some tests will require more memory (e.g. ZQMCG2). A Unibone would be a great option for expanding memory, if you can swing it.
Feel free to reach out if you have problems with your MM11-L. I'm in the midst of repairing my 5th one.
I don’t know if they are compatible but I have some 64K conventional memory boards as well. Basically I have three PDP 11’s and one PDP 11/34 and some LSI 11’s 11/23 and 11/83.
I hope to get one UNIBUS PDP 11 and one QBus PDP 11 working.
Building a Unibone can be very useful for such a system to expand the memory and run RT11. And it can be a great help with debugging. The 11/05 serial port is a current loop or TTL. Not RS232. So maybe this project can be helpful.
I remember from looking at the microfiche that the 11/05 CPU went through several revs and the thing they were always fooling with was the console port and at that they seem to be a thing that often fails, so if you have room you are advised to disable the onboard console and use another board.
