Hey,

Is there any way I can connect my VT420 to my VAXstation 2000 and get it to run some tests and tell me if it is screwed or not? I don't have a monitor or keyboard for the VAXstation, but I remember reading somewhere that you can hook the VTxxx terminal to the VAXstation and get it to display some information.

I have bought a null modem RS232 cable and connected it to both computers, but nothing was displayed on the VT420. I'm assuming that the settings are incorrect in the VT420, but I've got no idea?

edit - After a quick search, I've discovered that i need a BCC08 cable to connect the vax to the vt terminal...

the real key is pin9 on the console port needs to be grounded. then all you need is poins 2,3,7 connected correctly to your terminal.

I have several 2000s and 3100s that I run.

Not sure if it holds true on the 2k's but on the 4000's there is a small switch on the front panel that has to be flipped in order to go headless.
