Hello all,

My latest acquisition from Ebay is giving me some trouble. Can anybody help me find more information on it?

Thank-you.

Paul.

Fantastic!

With this info, I was able to get into the BIOS (Ctrl-Alt-Ins) and set the HD to Type 3.

The drive itself seemed 'stuck' until I gave it a real hard slap on the side.

It now boots, shows a 30MB C: drive and an 11MB D: drive, created 28th February 1991.

More questions.....

Should I leave this running for a bit to help with the sticking HD?

What drive type is likely to be correct to avoid disk corruption?

Thanks.

Glad that helped. I've got an old Wang laptop that has a similar problem with its drive. If its not been used for a while, it needs a tap to get the drive going again.

I've never used one of those Zenith laptops so not really able to comment on the drive type. I'm assuming its IDE?

If it was stuck as in "not spinning" then yes, I'd say keep it running a while, and turn it into a variety of orientations to help any lubricants "re-wet" and redistribute. If it was stuck as in the heads weren't moving, then seeking (like run OpTune defrag on it or something) a lot will probably help keep it unstuck for the near future.

Enjoy!
