TRS-80 / Tandy Portable disk drive 2 (PDD2) - how do you use it?

Hi everyone,

I have some PDD2s here with their interconnect cables but have tried them a few times on my TRS-80 Model 100 and can never get any response from them.

Does the PDD2 work on the Model 100? Or is it a Tandy 102 / Tandy 200 device?

I made sure I have new batteries in them and both look like they have had very little use. In fact one looks unused, so I can't believe they are both broken...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ian, PDD2s will work on either M100, T102 (and I presume T200). About the only problematic thing with these is the drive belt perishing - they're notorious for it. I can easily believe both of yours have perished belts. They are available through Club100.org , but you maybe able to source locally.

A little tricky to dismantle the units, but instructions are on the Club100 site somewhere. These disk peripherals aren't in demand as they used to be with the advent of NADSBox.

I *think* the drive motor spins for sometime when accessing, so you should be able to hear it whirring even if the belt is broken.
