Ok simple question can a Compaq Portable keyboard be used with a Portable 286? I would guess not because of the PC compatible vs. an AT compatible thing.

Compaq Portable keyboard question

I would doubt it, but I honestly don't know. My guess is portable uses PC/XT versus AT protocol on Portable II and III.
The Portable keyboard will likely need a rebuild of its foam pads in the keys, the foam breaks down over the years, I need to rebuild mine, many dead keys on it. Luckily the Portable II and III keyboards use much more reliable mechanisms.
