Interesting problem with replacing belt on Tandy 1100FD floppy

I finally pulled apart my 1100FD to fix the floppy belt, and encountered a problem.

The replacement belts from two different vendors would not work, despite appearing identical to original (as far as I can tell.)

After a few revolutions, the belt would ride up on the large pully and catch on the PCB itself.



I bought a different belt, a round red one, for a Korg EME-216 system:

I thought that as well, but it was sold as a Korg floppy drive belt. Whatever it is, it seems to work great.

I replaced my 1100FD belt before (there is a thread on it on this forum). Still worked last time I used the machine and it was a rubber belt made for that drive.
