I have recently acquired an HP-85, which does not power on. When I attempt to power it on, it instantly blows the main fuse. I am new to electronics debugging, but I have already determined that the internal fuse has not blown. Does anyone have any ideas for what I should check next?

Get yourself a 60 Watt Incandescent Bulb (and socket) to wire in series with the Line (HOT) Conductor.
If something is shorted the Light Bulb will be Bright, plus the fuse won't blow. Locate the shorted
device, which is usually before the Primary Transformer. Check all 4 diodes of the Bridge Rectifier.
