Hi, I'm after some CC-40 program lisitings and cartridges for sale. I've seen one place on the net who sells stuff new, but it's a little expensive.

Anybody able to help?

Aside from ebay, probably your best source is Mike at TexIn Treasures. The URL is http://www.texintreasures.com/shop/

He does a lot of ebay stuff also with Buy It Now prices that I personally feel are a little out of line, but since he's about the only thing in town...

There is also a repository of programs at whtech on their ftp server. ftp://ftp.whtech.com/hexbus_cc40_ti74/

You'll need a PCIF adapted to the CC-40. Not real hard to do, just a bit tedious. If you don't happen to have one of these, here's a diagram for rolling your own, http://www.suddenlink.net/pages/curtismc/PC_Interface.jpg If was originally designed for the dockbus of the TI-74 and 95, but the dockbus and hexbus are electrically the same with pins shuffled around a bit.

BTW, you're more than welcome to snoop around on my site as I've included quite a few links to various things CC-40 related. My URL is http://www.suddenlink.net/pages/curtismc

Enjoy

Thanks for the info. Can you use the cable you mentioned to transfer and save files to your pc? I have no technical background so that picture is sadly no use to the likes of me!

I don't know if my CC40 is dodgy, but the contrast knob on the side doesn't work very well. I've got an ok picture now, but the cursor kept disappearing everytime I moved it and you had to wait a few seconds for it to appear again.

Anyway I still think it's a cool machine, I've typed in a few programs but not being able to save is a bit rubbish. I'm going to modify a few programs so I can have a few games on it at once.....

Oh yes. Once you've patched together an adapter from hexbus to dockbus, you can save and recall files from a DOS PC with no problems. The main kicker to the old software was it was designed for MUCH slower computers and timing would be all mashed up with newer cpu's.

Peter Engels rewrote the software to work much better and be more configurable. Unfortunately, what documentation he provided is in German!

If you're looking for a PCIF, you might try Richard Bell at http://hometown.aol.com/swim4home/index.html
or LL Conner at http://home1.gte.net/llconner/
Failing that, check ebay on either the Vintage Computers or Vintage Calculators.

As far as your cursor, sounds like you may have a bit of crud built up there. If you can take the batteries out first (!) then use some TV tuner cleaner on it, it should clear up. If that doesn't work, yeah, it's a bit dodgy! They show up fairly frequently on ebay and aren't that much.
