Hello,
I have two TVGA8900 cards one B and one C version of the chip.
On the card there is 6 dipswitches and I wonder what they do.
Can anyone help me?
Gotta love that site, no end of help.
Still doesn't explain the dip switches though!
I have had (and still have) several of the Trident 8900 cards, and have never had to set a dip switch. While I would like to know also, I would be wary of actually changing them unless the card was non-functional. Holes in the space-time continuum and all that
Modems on the other hand... arg!
Allthough it's for a card based on the TVGA-8800CS (which is the chipset that just preceded the TVGA-8900B), the switch settings should be at least mostly the same.
It seems like most TVGA-8900B-based cards are missing the TTL-output, so most of the switch settings won't really do too much. I don't think the Trident chipset got proper MDA/CGA emulation before the TVGA-8900C chipset, and if you select any other setting than VGA, the card may actually try to display MDA/CGA/EGA at it's native sync rate on the VGA monitor.
