I have a Fusion Amp with 1 bad IRF640 output MOSFET. Power supply was destroyed and I got it running after hours of endless troubleshooting
I bought some IRF640N after reading a detailed introduction article about this device, here's the link: IRF640N datasheet.
Problem is I have all kinds of 640N's and NO 640's and I mix them...

Whats the opinion of mixing these? Can these two be used interchangeably?

The 640N is an "improved" version of the 640 - lower body diode bandgap, lower capacitance, etc.

Can you just drop one in as a replacement? Depends on the setup of the output stage. If this is a single-ended output stage where a single 640 is functioning all by its lonesome, then the answer is probably "yes". If, on the other hand, this is a push-pull arrangement or there are other 640s in the same stage, you're advised to replace all of the 640s with 640Ns. The 640N has better high-frequency response, so it's possible that you may have to throw a small cap on the drain to keep things from oscillating.
