Rotten To The Core (Magnetic Memory Module)

That looks an interesting project you have there.

Is there anymore information available on your project to read?

I have seen something similar somewhere, but with a much smaller matrix though.

The $64k question is “does it work”...

interesting work.. it takes care and patience to thread the wire though the cores without kinking the wire nor scratching off the varnish that leads to short circuit to another crossing wire in the core.

Also I have some dim recollection that brand new cores where pre magnetized thus orientated by manufacturer and one trick in assembling a magnetic core memory was maintaining this orientation on all cores. its tooo long ago but i I think they had a tiny marking on one side.

Can anyone else recall this ?? Or maybe have some old documents that talk about it?

Any corresponding blogs, articles, github schematics, anything?

I expect the timing, sense current amplification, write and inhibit currents etc would all be quite finicky...
 
I would really like to hear or watch the process of how you threaded the sense lines. I tried weaving quite a few years ago and could never figure out a reliable way to thread all that diagonal wiring without accidental kinks or running out of wire.
