I have recetly aquired an IBM XT. It is huge, and weighs a ton!!! I picked it up for five bucks, and looks pretty cool. The one thing i have to ask is, what type of monitor do i need for it.

The best way is to look at the connector on the back. Is it an RCA jack? If so, you'll need a composite monochrome monitor. Composite color monitor will work, too, but you will only get mono on the screen.

Does it have a female 9 pin D-sub? A TTL monitor of any sort should work, whether it be monochrome, CGA or EGA.

I'd recommend finding the video card, and determining what it is:

- CGA is very likely. That's a nine pin connector.
- EGA is possible. Same connector.
- TTL Monochrome is possible. Same connector.
- VGA - you'd be able to recognize this

You really can't tell from the connector type - you have to open it up and identify the card. Using the wrong monitor type will cause damage.
