I was able to gain access to the CMOS setup screens by going in through the "back door". By booting DOS and entering two simple commands in the DEBUG program, I was able to force the CMOS to open. All but a few of the settings were lost in the process, but I put them back in selected a drive type that would work, saved the setup, abd re-booted. All is well now, and the machine is working completely.
