Hello,

I have a decent amount of IBM S/36 5364 floppy disks that I would like the image, preferably using a late-PC clone with a 5.25 floppy drive. I usually use this system, along with ImageDisk, to create or archive disks for various other systems I have, like CP/M machines or TRS-80s. I was wondering if it was also possible to use this setup to make images of my S/36 disk image collection. According to the RICM website they use a 1.2MB format that is incompatible with other PC's.

Thank You

As far as I know, the compatibility issue extends only to the file system information. Physically, I believe the disks are fairly conventional. You may need a controller than can handle FM for the first track, however.

This is all from my fuzzy memory--I could be mistaken.

I have imaged some of my S/36 8” and 5 1/4 using Image Disk.

I have also used am 8 inch image to write back a 5 1/4 for the S/36.

As Chuck pointed out for the 8 inch the first teach ifs FM.
