Racal-Vadic 2400PC ISA Card Expansion Board Question

Hi,

I have a Racal Vadic 2400PC Dial Up modem ISA card that appears to be fitted with an expansion board. This expansion board contains an AMD P8031AH processor on it. From what I can find online, this processor runs at around 12MHz.

The expansion card on the modem causes the ISA card to require two slots as it sticks out quite a bit.

Does anyone have any idea what the purpose of this board could be? I wasn't able to find any information searching online.

The earlier standalone Racal-Vadic modems were sold with dialer as an option. Perhaps this is what the add-on furnishes.

Forgive my ignorance, but what additional features would the dialer option give a user?
