Hi all, I recently came across an eBay listing of a TeleVideo TPC II (NOT TPC I). I was fascinated by it and tried to look up information on it, but could only find some old magazine articles. The computer also has a yellow screen, being much lighter than any amber screen I've seen. The only way to really learn more about the machine is to look at the included manual, which it thankfully comes with. I am not advertising or anything, I just thought it was interesting.

Thanks!

I have one of these!

I have one of these!

I still have my old Televideo TPC II, which I bought in the mid-80s. Trying to get it to work again after it sat in storage for 30 years, but it won't boot. I don't know whether the disk drives are bad or my DOS floppies just aren't readable anymore. My goal is to somehow get it online with my homebrew BBS from that time. I would appreciate any tips from someone who has one of these babies running, especially if you have managed to network it. - Cheers

If the floppy drives don't work, it's either the drives themselves, or (more likely) the FDC data separator chip. I had problems with those on several Televideo machines.

This is U14, a 9229B. I found my last replacement on eBay as a NOS or Pull. If you're unlucky, it's U55 (the gate array chip) that has failed instead. I have a dead TPC-I from that failing... but that would likely cause more than a "601" disk error.

I have the maintenance manual here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PDGJGjWSLnDcVlXtGYpYXQG4R6J2xML3/view?usp=sharing
