HP Vectra 286 45945A

Finally a win, well sort of... :D

I've had this HP Vectra 286 for ages, looks like it was their first IBM compatible model:

I thought the power supply needed repairing, but as I learnt with the NEC APCs it just needs a load for the voltages to regulate correctly.

It was missing the graphics card so I added a spare MDA card I had. Unfortunately it's also missing part of the front bezel and the top of the case has some corrosion.

But to my surprise it does POST, so it seems to be working. Except I don't have a keyboard and mouse which is compatible with the HP-HIL interface.


I'm glad it seems to be working, but I think I'll move this one on as I have a whole stack of other computers to repair. ;)

That's the discrete logic version, very nice. If we were closer I'd certainly offer to buy it.

There was also an 8088?/8086? unit. PC-305 iirc (don't quote me). I jad a pretty beat up one, but nice enough, and tossed it like a fool. Everything resided on cards, all plugging into a passive backplane type affair. Very hard to come by. I've only seen one, and it was mine.
