Consider "Pre-Altair" has a better more historically-accurate name...The Home brew Era. Reduces the need for the descriptive subtitle necessary to define it.

Well, then there's the matter of "what do you mean by computing?". In my far-off younger years, a popular science fair project was a machine to play tic-tac-toe. It used relays. Was that a computer?
