Altair 680 Reproduction Kits

You can get reproduction kits now for $1,000. Has anyone here gotten one yet? Or can affored to get one?

I used to have a broken IMSAI 8080 but traded it for something else those years ago. I miss it.

I haven't heard from Grant in a bit, but last I heard he still had a few kits available.

I'm not sure if they were the 8800s, 680s, Kenbak's or what. . .

Hi Mike! If you are willing to settle for something not quite so nice as one of Grant's kits you could build one of the N8VEM 6809 host processors with the 6809 IO mezzanine board. That will let you program 6809 code and hopefully soon it will support the DSKY so you'll have "front panel" like access.

It certainly would be cheaper and there are some interesting case options developing.

Still its not a replacement for the Altair 680. That is an awesome kit Grant made. I certainly would like one myself but couldn't afford $1K to spend on it.

Wow, you guys are making a lot of progress!
Just curios, is it easier to emulate the VT-52? Or is it a compatibility things with CP/M and other vintage software?

So to the real question: what would one need to make a N8VEM 6809 system compatible with the Altair 680?
