Another one for the TRS-80 sleuths.

At first I thought this was some kind of MIDI interface
Then I searched for this in the forums and came up with one post that indicated a Powerstick was;
"an adapter so you can use a CoCo joystick on the Model III/4 with xT.CAD."

So then I find this joystick and I assume the joystick pictured goes with it.

But then, what is the purpose of the speaker/volume control?

Is there software that goes with this?

Appreciate any input! :)

Thank you for pointing me there. It was actually quite helpful.

My 4D has a Grafyx card (original) installed and I do have a digitizer mentioned in that manual. So, the pieces are starting to come together.

I'm still at a loss though for the purpose of the speaker/volume control of this unit - not to mention the buttons on the joystick unit.
I'm hoping some old-timers may have actually used this type of system might still be around to provide some insight :)

Thanks again for the reply - it was a nice help! :)

Looks like there an audio mini-plug on the side below the ribbon cable. I'd guess that you plug the cassette output of the TRS-80 into that for sound.

Ahhhhhh..... yes.... that would make sense! :)
I'm just confused on what what the purpose of the speaker and volume control here would be, especially if this was used for xT.CAD
I'm going to have to just find time to hook this all up and see how it works :)

Well - after some mucking around, I finally figured this little guy out. I was thrown off by a different post stating this was for xT.CAD - well that post was referencing a similar box with only one DIN plug and no speaker (I had to go to Worthpoint to pull up the Ebay picture that post was referencing and noted the difference).

This has two DIN plugs for the joystick in the picture. Also - there are various games that will work with the joystick - so this wasn't just for xT.CAD

And gp2000 - you were right about the cassette audio plug. It does plug into it - so basically this box is a combination of joystick adapter and audio amp.

Just had to post this to close the loop on this post. :)

I have one without the speaker and volume control (probably from the eBay picture you found). I thought it was interesting and bought it, but have yet to do anything with it. I'm assuming mine will work with a Tandy joystick and xT.CAD, I just need to get around to buying the joystick. Do you know the names of games that will work with it? I never heard of any designed around an analog controller.

I haven't tried these, but from past research this was a probable list of games I came up with:
Clash, Convoy, Fury, Gauntlet, Outhouse, Sneak Thief, The Wild West, Assault, Bounceoids, Caterpillar, Chicken, Galaxy Invasion Plus, Jungle Boy, Time Runner, Strike Force, Astro Moth, Bable Terror, Black Hole, Space Castle, Cyborg, Exterminate, Gravitar, Leaper, Stellar Escort, Stronghold, Vexus, Weerd, Mad Mines, Penguin, Time Bandit, Arex, Dig Out, Hamburger Sam, Martian Patrol, Threshold Zero, Zaxxon, Space Intruders, Rally, Stratos, Volcano Hunter, Penetrator, Scarf Man, Sea Dragon, Apple Panic, Armored Patrol, Frogger, Crazy Painter, Alien Taxi, Rear Guard, Robot Attack

Hope this helps. :)
