I recently aquired an IBM PS/2 Model 80, which has XENIX 5 installed on it. I did not realize when I bought it that it was password protected. Is there any way to override the username and password?
I assume you're trying to login as the "root" user...
Have you tried just hitting ENTER for the password prompt?
Or all the usual root passwords. (watch the movie "Hackers" ;-))
The usual procedure involves booting off a boot floppy,
mounting the hard drive and then edit /etc/passwd to remove the root password.
Like all the PS/2 MCAs model 80 needed a set-up disk. IIRC there was a provision for a password on it. If the password is for the Xenix that would be a different problem. The best thing to do would ask this question in the Google Groups PS/2 forum
