I was cleaning out my closet last week and I came across a bunch of old computer equipment and various other electronics. I've sold off everything of value, and trashed what I could find comparables showing it wasn't worth anything, but with this old computer equipment I can't figure out if it’s worth anything. So here's a list of what I have, if you’re interested in something name the price, or if you want to help me out let me know if it’s worth sticking on eBay or something or if I should just send it to the recyclers. I'm in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and I can ship stuff if needed (preferably US only).

WYSE WY-530-04 Monitor (On eBay similar models selling/not selling $20-$33+)

I don't think any of them are worth a fortune, but even at $25 and someone paying for shipping you could save some hardware and make a buck. Stick around here a few days and you also may get an offer on something here and there. The monitors are nice with the Tandy's and the Tandy's have a good following also. Most of those systems sound like they're 286's which is interesting and they're getting harder to find so that's good if someone is interested in playing with that architecture.

Obviously the problem is when the system is worth a bit less than the cost to ship it, but you may even find some local folks from here who are interested. Also you might try posting them for $xx on craigslist which may turn up some other local collectors. I would probably offer them as a complete deal first since it's hard to find the right keyboards for those systems as a collector, same with the monitors if one is a purist and wants a Tandy monitor on their Tandy computer and not some other generic. If that doesn't pan out maybe start offering them separately.

Alternatively we also have a no cost to post market place/auction site on this board too if you're wanting to test the waters that way, just let folks know if/when you do put them up so you can get some attention to the auction. I think they're worth trying to sell.

Nice stuff! As for a collector's... you might want to hunt through the tandy diskettes and see if you can find the original MS-DOS v3.2 and Deskmate diskettes. As for the rest of them, if they're not used blanks but factory games/programs/etc, you might want to try selling them as a lot on ebay - oftentimes a good diskette lot will do well.

Too bad you didn't find an HX in there... Ah well :) Good luck!

The Tandy CM-5 is a crappy CGA monitor, the CM-11 is one of the best Tandy CGA monitors (people still want those).
Both Tandy systems should sell for something, wether it is worth the effort to box and ship them is up to you.

I'm interested in the Packard Bell PB440A if it boots up. Have you tried it? I'm guessing the CMOS battery is way dead from your description, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Thanks!

Sorry for not getting back to anybody, I was away for the weekend without internet  . Oh, and sorry for not cleaning the stuff before taking pics, they look a bit dirtier in the pics than IRL :embarrassed: .

aitopes: I didn't say I wouldn't ship outside the US, I just prefer not to, I've had bad eBay experiences in that past.

barythrin: thanks for the info and tips, I'll post an ad on craigslist and the market place.

Maverick1978: Thanks for the info and tips, I'll index the disks and post a listing.

dabone: I'd prefer to try and sell the systems in one piece for now, if they don't sell that way, I'll pull the board for you.

kishy: I'll have to look when I get home, and I'll send you a few more pictures of it, since you may know better than me.

CuriousChord: Everything worked when I put it away several years ago, I'll pull it out and boot it to check, I think it has Windows 3.11 but I don't remember

Great to see you're back! I was hoping you didn't run away or forget the site :) I think we have a certain amount of folks end up here from google, post, then forget where they were. Glad you found us and looks like you have a good amount of interest so a win for the community and you.

Well I don't really know much spec wise, here are some pics of the internals so you might be able to figure out more about them, or you can tell me where to look or what to do to get the information you want (I think RAM shows up when you boot them). I powered both of them up last night and the both booted up and asked for a disk. I think I remember seeing 256KB on the screen last night, I'll boot them again tonight and write it down this time :)

Inside the Tandy 1000 (have to look for the hdd size):

I'll try to get around to indexing the disks tonight so we both know whats in there, after I get the disk list posted, PM me an offer for what you want.

PM sent. I am also interested in the items in accessories1 and 2.jpg. Especially the diskette holder labeled model 4.
If someone else gets them, please lets do a deal on making some copies. Most of my interest in those is preserving them. After copying them myself I will probably send them on to Ira at trs-80.com if there is anything there he doesn't have already. Actually I would probably be better just sending them directly to him for assessment/copying.

Slightly interested in the CM-11 also, but probably not worth my while after shipping, but you never know!

Looking forward to your response...

Tandy 1000 SX Hard Card is an 8 bit Western Digital 40MB IDE and 8 bit IDE controller that will only work with 8 bit IDE drives.

The CM-11 and Packard Bell have been sold.

Also the labels on the disk containers were not acurate, they were just holding disks that didn't fit in the boxtop with the others, theres several more empty disk containers in the closet.

I went through all the disks, and distroyed anything that had personal files on it. I started typing out a list of disks but decided to just take pictures instead. Most of the disks appear to be copies of other program disks, but there are a few original disks in there (disks6.jpg), and also there where a bunch of new blanks and formated disks (disks7.jpg). I left the disk pics full res, and recompressed them, so you can zoom in and read the labels, they are a mixture of disks for the TRS-80, Model 4, Tandy 1000 and Windows 3.11.

There was also a bunch of manuals and other software, I'll take pictures of those and post them tonight/tomarrow.

I also found a TRS-80 Model 100 (although I didn't see the Model 4, sadly I think it got thrown out years ago), I'll test that too and post more pic of it.
