Hello everyone,

My neighbor had a terminal in his shed that turned out to be a DEC VT05.

I looked it up and found this forum.

I’m in the process of cleaning the case, and removing as much corrosion as I can.

The unit was filled with dirt, and had grass growing in it. The nuts and screws holding the case were fused from oxidation, so they were removed to get into the housing.

The inside is in surprisingly good shape, and the boards look pretty good. The housing around the crt is oxidized to hell, but it seems to otherwise be in repairable shape.

Sandy, (the neighbor in question), said he got it from a previous employer, and had forgotten about it.

He’s planning on selling it, but I wanted to make sure that whomever buys it will treat it right and actually restore it.

Annddd...that’s what brings me here. Is anyone interested in buying/restoring this machine?

I am fair with electronics, but I myself don’t possess the needed skill to do a full restoration (and besides, Sandy could really use the money).

Let me drag my ipad out to the garage so I can include a few pictures with this post (I’ll post more once I clean it completely):

Wow, what a neat find! I'm thankful that I don't live anywhere near you :D I wish you lots of luck selling it, I hope it finds someone that will restore it's previous glory.

Nice find! Prepare to be inundated with offers... sadly I am not in the same hemisphere. If it was mine I would take a fibreglass mold of that groovy shell and sell some repops.

Better pictures were requested for the boards, so I cleaned them up as best I could. There is still dirt on them that the toothbrush and alcohol couldn’t remove without getting too aggressive, hence the black stuff you see.
