How to disable smilies in text?

The old forum software used a checkbox under "Advanced Editing" to disable the auto-conversion of certain text sequences to smilies. I don't see that anywhere on this software. Anyone have a clue? e.g. "Intel sold a 16-bit MPU with an 8-bit bus (the 8088)".

Looks like the button may be missing, I can't find it either.

But in the meantime you can post text by using the BBcode tag: [noparse] (the 8088) [/noparse]. I've placed two instances around (the 8088) so you can see what it should look like before you post.

Thanks, I'll remember that, but I thought that the deal with all of the buttons across the text composition window was that you don't have to use BBcode tags. (and then there's the matter of whose BBcode--but that's another issue).

At least you can still use bbcode - IPB forums threw it out entirely. You still have one reason to feel lucky.
