Attached images not displaying larger versions when clicked

For quite some time, images attached to posts only show as the smaller ones inlined in the posts - clicking on them produces the expected expanded display window with < and > buttons, but no image. For example, here. I tried looking at the page source, but it is pretty disgusting. The W3C Validator thinks so, too.

I've also seen users report in the forum that things like 4 attached images only shows 3 of them.

No, this still appears to be an issue.

The images in that thread all link to PDF documents instead of images. I don't know if that is confusing things, but zooming seemed to work elsewhere.

I can click on that imaged and see a larger image. Then click again for a zoomed image.

Can someone please just re-enable the resize feature? Uploading a 197 kb (!!!) jpeg file gives me the error that my file is 304 kb in size (no, it's not!) and that it's rejected because the resize feature is turned off. Many people complain about this, why is nothing happening in the regard? This is only a single option to switch in the backend.

How do other forums do it? Am I crazy thinking a bunch of them resize the image for you?

Some allow for user resize. Vanilla, for example allows for [ img w=width ] resizing.
