Why can't I find one? I'm well aware of VFD but it doesn't run in dos. I guess I should start with the current problem I have.

I'm putting the finishing touches on a late 386 gaming machine. It will have both 5.25 and 3.5 drives. I know I can archive the floppy disks that I have, but I'm worried about the ones with copy protection that will require them to be in the computer to work.

Is there a TSR or something physical that can super impose a floppy image onto a real drive? Is there another solution for this that i'm not bright enough to see?

I think I would be looking at disk cloning/imaging as ways to back up your protected disks and make a working copy. It's quite legal. AFAIK there is nothing on a floppy that can't be copied with the right utility. I've used some in Linux, so might be worth a search.

the issue there is, i have almost NO 5.25 media that I can write to. I know I can go out and buy some, but having a virtual floppy drive would be SO much faster and more reliable.
