Just out of curiosity: was anybody able to compile Microsoft's sources of GW-BASIC into an executable?

I had a look at the sources but unfamiliar with the MASM structure of code and no idea where to begin (GWMAIN or GWINIT), I gave it a rest. And what version is it supposed to generate, 2.00? If that is the case then disassembling it and comparing the generated code with this source code could do the trick of finding out where to start.

I thought one of the blogs I read involved an attempt at compiling it. Let me check. https://www.os2museum.com/wp/gw-basic-source-notes/ might be a good start.

I think it is the last extract from the shared code base before the DOS 2 specific updates were added. The directory functions were mentioned in the reserved words list but there is no code I can see enabling them to work.
