I'm in need of some help. Is there any way I could possibly use newer CD drives that don't have native DOS drivers in DOS? I really need CDs to install IE (among other stuff) onto my laptop and unfortunately I don't have any older CD drives laying around anymore.

What laptop? Drivers like OAKCDROM.SYS or VIDE-CDD.SYS will work with anything that is connected via IDE (PATA) or SATA in IDE mode.

There are even DOS drivers for USB CD-ROM drives. Those consume lots of memory, however.

It's a Compaq LTE Elite 4/50CX 486 laptop. luckily it came with the dock or CD might not even be an option
