Just a quick note -
The Free Spirit Drive Alignment program for Commodore 1541 1571 drives worked very well for me, and I was able to ressurect a 1571, 1541-II and the internal 1571 drive of a C128D. No ocilliscope needed.
One undocumented feature - if you run the speed test for a half hour, I found that the drive speed of a 1571 will stablize. On the 1571 there is no other way to adjust the drive speed short of replacing the motor or bearings.
Anyway, if anyone reads this post and has a copy of this program let me know how you did with it.
